The move is very entertaining, very romantic, and will play on your nostalgic side if you have one. If you’re a 20 something that has been in and out of some significant relationships, this will hit close to home, in a positive way. If all rom-coms were brutally honest, we wouldn’t see many of them if any off the indie circuit. “Definitely, Maybe” is pretty much mostly sincere, however, and it’s mystery hook — though contrived — is sorta certainly the key to making it all work. The soundtrack’s peppered with songs that defined the era (Nirvana, anyone?) and having Massive Attack on it, is always a massive boost for me since they’re one of my favourite trip-hop bands. A Clint Mansell score on top of it all, makes this movie musically a breeze to sit through.

Trust me, as a man that’s been dragged to more than his fair share of romcoms, this one is by no means bad. To give this film the scathing it’s had in some quarters, is like a food critic cruelly reviewing a bag of crisps. That is to say this film is not meant to be “food for thought” it’s just a snack. And if you get your kicks out of inflating your own ego by raving about how much a dumb film like this offended your sensibilities, then “for shame!” is all I can say. It should have been obvious from the poster that this film is a romcom. Ryan Reynolds is a solid enough lead, with enough comic talent to keep things ticking over.
These were great songs that would’ve been certainties for inclusion on any other band’s debut album; Oasis already had so many of them, they basically took to throwing them away. If Owen Morris was responsible for shaping Oasis’ sonic palette, art director Brian Cannon and photographer Michael Spencer-Jones played a similar role in shaping their visual one. The ‘Definitely Maybe’ cover itself has become iconic, but the singles were just as arresting, and were rife with little details and easter eggs that gave you a sense of the band’s identity.

So eventually Will, unknown to her, began to search for it also. If you look at the movies Ryan Reynolds has been in he seems to specialize in fluff, silly roles. Perhaps not too different from how Tom Hanks started, on TV in “Bosom Buddies.” But here Reynolds has to carry the movie in a comedic dramatic role and does it well. I loved the interplay between Ryan and his on-screen daughter. Where he would go off into something that he should be changing and then realizes it is much to late to go back, so he does what any normal parent would do.

Piper and Josh are opposites, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be great together. The connection between them was easy to see from the beginning, and I liked how their relationship developed. They both had concerns and struggles, but opened up as they spent more time together. Piper who I actually liked at the beginning of the book just got on my nerves the more the story went on. Started off cute and quirky but then went downhill about halfway through. The whole book was leading up to the event and the actual event only lasted 2 pages.
It’s just too outlandish and frustrating to see these actions go completely unaddressed. I am such a big fan of Adair but confess this latest book fell somewhat flat. Perhaps it was the third person narration, but I never felt much of a connection to the romantic relationship between Piper and Josh. However, I adored the family/brother aspect of the Eastons.
